Welcoming General Orbit.
Backing a team building navigation and sensing for environments where conventional signals cannot be relied on.

Navigation beyond the signal
Black Prism has invested in General Orbit, led by CEO Parker Boundy. Announcing the investment, Steven Miller highlighted the team’s work on navigation and sensing in denied environments, and its alignment with the firm’s focus on foundational, dual-use technologies.
General Orbit’s approach uses magnetic sensing and sensor fusion to support navigation when conventional positioning signals are unavailable or unreliable. The company describes applications across aerospace, maritime, subterranean, and space environments.
Making difficult technology deployable
The company is working on both the sensing problem and the practical challenges of integration. Its website describes embedded processing to address interference from a platform’s own electronics, alongside standardized hardware designed to reduce the need for a custom solution on every vehicle.
General Orbit also identifies domestic manufacturing in Michigan as part of its approach. Together, these priorities connect the underlying science with the engineering and production work required to bring a capability into use.
The investment announcement places General Orbit within Black Prism’s thesis at the intersection of software, hardware, autonomy, and national security.
